To register a proprietorship business in India, some key points need to be kept in mind.
Here are some quick tips to help you manage it:
- As a proprietor, you need to have a license under the Shop Act in some states.
- You should register for the GST.
- You need to have a current account in the name of your company in any recognised bank.
- Depending on the type and size of the business you have, you need to register for MSME or SSI at UDYAM (website: udyamregistration.gov.in).
- In addition, you may have to register for a Trademark, FSSAI and IEC (Import-Export) code et cetera.
- Keep ready the other documents such as PAN card, Aadhaar card and proof of your business location that you wish to register.
